President Uhuru Kenyatta & Somali’s Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo Hold Bilateral Talks In Nairobi

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Somali counterpart, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo held bilateral talks aimed at bolstering relations between the two East Africa countries. 

The Somalia President who arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday 30/5/2018 is on an official visit in the country.

Among the bilateral issues discussed by the two leaders include security and Kenya’s continued support for African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

Also, the recent tension between residents of Somalia’s Beled-Hawo border town and Mandera-Kenya will be resolved through a special committee, Villa Somalia updated.

The two leaders also updated one another on shared security concerns, successes and challenges in the war against the Al-Qaeda’s Al-Shabaab.

President Kenyatta and his counterpart underscored the need for a stable Somalia and subsequently support free trade and ease movement of people and goods.

Kenyatta reiterated Kenya’s commitment in strengthening and bolstering security to ensure Al-Shabaab terrorists are barred from penetrating the borders.

President Farmajo also promised Somalia’s vote, to have Kenya secure a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council. President Mohamed said Somalia fully supports Kenya’s bid to sit on the UNSC.
