Federal Government of Somalia’s Weekly Briefing

1- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received at the Presidential Palace the ambassadors and representatives of the international organizations operating in Somalia.

15- Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama, chaired the Somalia Humanitarian Platform organized by the Somalia Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA).

16- Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, participated in a ceremony launching SOMTURK, a partnership for defense and economic cooperation between Somalia and Turkey, which serves as a foundation for strengthening maritime resource cooperation and boosting the blue economy.

17- The Cabinet has approved draft laws, treaties, and key regulatory statutes that will enhance the function of government agencies.

18- The leader of the Interim Administration of South West State, Mr. Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, was warmly welcomed in Baydhabo, the interim capital of the South West State.

22- The Commander of the Somali Custodial Corps, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Sheikh Hassan, held his first meeting with the leaders of the Somali Prison Service.

23- The Somalia national football team aiming to, after 69 years, participate in the Africa Cup of Nations final tournament for the first time, after defeating Mauritius 4-2.

24- The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in cooperation with international partners, carried out operations in the regions of Middle Shabelle and Lower Shabelle, killing Kharijites commanders and destroying places they used to produce explosives, weapon maintenance, and organize militias.

25- The people of Baydhabo warmly welcomed the National Army as Kharijites were driven out of areas in Bay.

26- The Chairperson of the Somali Human Rights Commission, Mrs. Maryam Qassim, participated in the annual conference of global human rights organizations (GANHRI) held for three days in Geneva.

27- The Commander of the Bay Regional Police Department praised the people of South West State for their hospitality and urged them to cooperate with security forces to stabilize security.

28- The Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister Kamal Gutale, met with the Chinese ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Wang Yu.
