Somalia Pledge To Support Kenya In Its Bid For A Temporary Seat At The UN Security Council

President Uhuru Kenyatta today held talks with President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo of Somalia who is on an official visit in the country.

The two leaders discussed bilateral issues and security matters including the continued support for African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in which Kenyan forces play a big role.

President Mohamed Farajo also pledge to support Kenyaโ€™s bid for a temporary seat at the UN Security Council.
Currently, there are ten non-permanent members at the Security Council appointed by the General Assembly, allowing a country to be in the council for 2 years.
The five permanent members are: China, Russia, France, United States of America and the United Kingdom.
The temporary members include: Bolivia, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Netherlands, Peru, Poland and Sweden.

Further, the two presidents discussed shared security concerns as well as progress made towards the efforts to bring peace and stability in Somalia and the setting up of a joint committee to help with the investigation of the border issues atย Beled Hawo and Mandera which have delayed the construction of the border by Kenya.
