SNA RECAPTURES 3 STRATEGIC TOWNS, REPULSES ATTACK IN HIRSHABELLE STATE

Date:

Mogadishu, 17th January 2023: The Federal Government of Somalia hails the significant gains made by the Somali National Army in the fight against the Kharijite Al Shabaab in Central Somalia.

In the last 24 hours, the Somali National Army in collaboration with the locals has recaptured the strategic towns of Harardhere, Gal’ad and El Dher in Galmudug State. These three areas have been strongholds for the Kharijite Al Shabab for the past decade, with this victory signalling the imminent end of the Al Shabaab menace and the birth of a new, terror-free Somalia.

The Somali Government and its citizens have been collaborating in a popular uprising against the terror group which has been behind runaway lawlessness, instability, destruction and bloodshed in advancing its selfish causes.

In yet another win in the war against terror, the Somali National Forces today repelled a cowardly attack by the Kharijites Al Shabaab in Hawadley Village in HirShabelle State. More than 20 Kharijite militants were killed in the operation.

Even as the war against terror continues to gain momentum, the Federal Government of Somalia wishes to reiterate that the Somali National Army is committed to carrying out its mandate in strict compliance with its obligations under international humanitarian law, human rights law, Islamic law and Somali customary rules of warfare.
